Julie’s* Story

“Thank you for being there when we needed you.”

Julie, Single Mother of 2

Julie* came to Connections in late April 2021 at the recommendation of a local Fayetteville service provider. Julie had been working hard to make ends meet, but even after receiving her stimulus check, she couldn’t catch up. Though she paid her back rent and caught her water bill up, her electricity was still behind and before she knew it, she and her two daughters woke up to a dark home. She couldn’t even heat water for her youngest daughter’s morning bottle, let alone get them ready for school.

Julie entered Connections’ requesting emergency assistance and in just under 3 hours, she and her case manager worked hard to gather all required documentation to apply for financial support through Connections. Julie asked to call her mother and when her mother answered, Julie began to cry and shared with her mother that “she and her daughters would be ok.” Before the day ended, Julie called Connections on her work break to say thank you once again for “being there when [she] needed [us].”
